Bloom in Bloomington Program Overview
Program Purpose Statement: Bloom in Bloomington strives to support and grow a more diverse, and accessible workplace for our community by matching young people with employers in local government, nonprofit, and private sectors.
Program Vision Statement: Bloom in Bloomington dreams of a world where employment disparities are eliminated, our workforce reflects the diversity of the community and young people of all identities can feel seen by their government and be empowered to reach their full potential.
Program Values:

- We serve as a catalyst in addressing employment disparities in our community.
Program Goals:
- Connect youth with barriers to employment to career pathways and a professional network.
- Build a workforce development pipeline within the City of Bloomington.
- Address internal and external hiring challenges.
- Diversify the City’s workforce.
- Engage with youth in the community.
Eligibility:
Youth, aged 16-24, are eligible for one of the 2 following cohorts:
- Young Adult Internship
- This 12-week internship is designed for young people, aged 18 – 24, who live and/or attend college in the City of Bloomington.
- High School internship
- This 8-week internship is designed for young people, aged 16+, enrolled in a high school in the City of Bloomington.
- There is also biweekly mandated Leadership Institute that provides personal and professional development.
If you do not attend school or have a permanent address in Bloomington, your application will not be considered for this program. Please note: youth, aged 16-24, who are out of school but reside in Bloomington still qualify.
